Do you have sleep paralysis?

I have had this since i was 16 and i had lots going on. And i know the major stress kinda triggered these "episodes". basically the first times it happened i just couldnt move and basically i was looking at the room i was in but i was seeing other things too, like shadows walking across the room. Little by little over the years it just started being where i cant move. i see everyone around me exactly where there actually sitting and im trying to scream to them to wake me up and it also feels like i cant breath. but nothing comes out. I guess my eyes are actually fluttering and thats why i can see my sorroundings. My brother one day actually woke me up and said it was cause i was breathing wierd, like i couldnt breath. it only happens when i take naps during the day, its only happened once or twice at night. basically, is there anything i can do?? meds?? exercises??anything?? and is it really sleep paralysis in your experience?? thank you

I have sleep paralysis as well. I usually get it when I first lay down to go to sleep. It is one of the scariest things ever. I absolutely do not like not being able to move my body or talk. When I feel it coming on, I start to move my legs or arms so I can get up. It is so hard to stop it once it comes on. I feel so tired that it is almost impossible for me to get up, but I know if I don't get up, I will be paralized. I have told several doctors about this but they have never said anything about it. I think they have no idea to treat something like this so they blow it off, which really pisses me off. It was so bad a few months back that I was actually too scared to go to sleep and the only way I would sleep was if I passed out from exhaustion. I wish there were an easy cure for this, or that a doctor would even acknowledge that it exists, but it is something I guess we must quietly suffer with.

Sometimes...

It only happens when I lay on my back though... so I don't unless I end up like that during the night... and never have that problem anymore unless it is upon waking where I couldn't help it.

It is rather disturbing and what I imagine it might feel like to be dead?

You have a sleeping disorder. At time this use to happen to me and i was told I should take a sleeping aid. Unisom works very well. I am sleep well now. I thnk that you should go to the doctor first. Yo are a light sleeper but you are so tired half of your brain is sleep and have of it is awake.
