I want to echo Traci G ... build a relationship with God as soon as possible. Are you trying to go it alone? That is scary...

Also, it helped me to try doing something I was afraid of every day. Not something really dangerous, neccessarily. Sometimes, I was just shy of people, afraid to go outside. SO, I'd force myself to go out that day. Maybe, too afraid to talk to that pretty girl. So, I would go and talk to her! Get the idea? Just do little steps at first...

Later, I learned about this great techinique of facing my fear. Really looking at the thought, or confronting the voice that said to be afraid. It's a mental exercise. I found fears would quickly vanish at this, as tho fear itself was a coward that didn't enjoy confrontation, and fled rapidly from my gaze. I'm not special, anyone can do this, try it out.

Yea, I've got to vote NO! on medication.

Have you tried anything herbal? St. John's Wort surprisingly works miracles with anxiety disorders. It's great. Otherwise, complain to the office that your doctor is working in or just really pound it in that you REALLY want a different medication. They will have to listen eventually. Good luck!

Benzos are a potentially dangerous class of drugs. I am a firm believer that they have their purpose. Just remember that the withdrawal from these drugs is generally much worse than the original condition.

NO Zanex..NO NO>.It is addictive and trying to get off of it is so evil...I have seen people I love try to do it...NO. Buspar is good, but with paxil maybe not so much. You need to try different medication combos with your doctor. Mellaril ( I think that is the spelling) has worked in combo with antidepressants with people I know. Tell you doctor you want to try something else, tell her how bad the panic is...paxil can sometimes make it worse. Please do not take zanex..please.. do not get hooked on that...Try exercise, better meds and a better diet.

if your doctor isn't listening to you about the way your med is making you feel its time for a new doctor.

i used lexapro with zanax as needed.

Try saying the serenity prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Also, cut out all caffeine in your diet.

Try meditation and prayer.

You do not mention therapy to help you work through your problems.

Benzos like Xanax are addictive, which is probably why your doc doesn't want to go there. That would be even more so if you have any addiction history.

If the Buspar and Paxil combo aren't working, talking to your doc about changing one or both. Neurontin is another neuroleptic that helps some with anxiety. There are a few other meds, and of course, many anti-Ds to try.

When it's up and running (a week or so?), check out crazymeds.org. There are lots of people there that know about treating anxiety as well as other mental illnesses. The info there is rock solid, btw. Links to manufacturer PI sheets and everything.

Please read all books by Kevin Trudeau, beginning with Natural cures "they" don't want you to know about. This could save your future health and that of your loved ones. I will keep you in my prayers. God bless you Amanda.

Hi Amanda,

I have suffered with panic disorder for 10 years and yes the medications made me feel awful too. So I quit taking the medication and someone told me about this site. So I bought it and it has worked for me! I am now panic free. It costs a little but probably no more than any medication. Give it a try. Hope it helps. Hello Keepmewithyou....Find another doctor!!!!....Meds work differently in different people. It sounds that paxil does not work for you, but you麓ve got to find the medicine and doctor that works for you. Concerning anxiety and panic disorder I have a tip: never be AFRAID of a panic attack. If you are afraid you will get another one. If you are not afraid the panic attack will last a while and then go away. Acupuncture and yoga are also useful. Argentox2@yahoo.com

Not sure if this is for you, cause I'm not suffering from anything but my terrible backache, but worth a look anyway, I guess.
My sister in law, living in Australia, suffered from anxiety and panic attacks like you for years and tried I don't know how many treatments and cures, in vain. Now she has no idea how to use a computer, always afraid to ruin something and cause a crash. So I started some researches for her and downloaded many different ebooks and stuff (lots of crap), not really expecting to find any reasonable enlightenments, but surprise, surprise ...
There is one guy with so many astounding testimonials for his product, that I had a closer look at his stuff. Well, after reading all the testimonials and positive reviews on google I sent the link to my brother and he bought it.
Last week I received a postcard from Mauritius from my brother and his wife. Unbelievable, my sister in law in an airplane, not by force, without tranquilizers and stuff!
Maybe this will help you too:
