I suffer from panic disorder... please help.?

Hi... I suffer from anxiety/panic disorder. I have had a cold 3 weeks ago, felt better and now I'm sick again. I saw my doctor and he said it is just going around. However when I looked on the internet a cold of more than a week can lead mean cancer. I am now panicing that the doctors missed something. Also I am on Zinthromax (antibiotic) and I feel really dizzy which isn't helping. Is this just another symptom of my panic? I feel so helpless. Please cheer me up or help.

cheer up as i personally have cancer and a anxiety disorder. your meds may be making you dizzy but listen to your dr. i had dizzy once and fell down but it was a passing thing. don't dwell on cancer as when you get it its a mother so don't wish or think about it tull it happens

learn how to meditate

AngelDust,
I have the same probelm. Are you taking meds for your anxiety?
I know how scary it is when one comes on. Try and take deep breaths and focus on your breathing when your pulse begins to pick up.
I've been dealing with it for 5 years now. I really feel for you. It's not an easy thing to live with, but it can be done.
Since you're on an antibiotic, you should be just fine. Try not to worry about things too much.
(((((((((hugs))))))))))

I really wouldn't worry too much. My entire family all got sick, then about 3 weeks later got sick again. Our doctor said that it is just a strong virus going around that takes a while to get out of your system.
I for one have never heard of a reoccuring cold being a symptom of cancer...so I really wouldn't worry about that! :) I'm sure there is nothing wrong (other than you have a cold again)
On a different note, have you ever thought of medication for the anxiety disorder? I also have an anxiety disorder, and I am on Zoloft for it. It has really really helped!! You may want to talk to your doctor about it!
Hope you feel better soon!

Ask your doctor about Buspirone. I take 2-10mg tablets twice a day. My anxiety and panic attacks are completely gone. I've been on it since September and it starts working in just a couple of weeks.

Yeah this isn't a normal cold BUT there has been a crazy cold-bug going around that my friends have had and they go forever with the cold. Do you go out when its cold a lot? Going out after you shower in the cold or from hot to cold lowers your immune system and therefore your body cant fight the cold fast enough. I think that you should wait it out for another week or so and then go to another doctor for a second opinion.

The antibiotic is helping but you need bed rest because thats why you feel dizzy... its probably making your body want to rest.

I don't think you have cancer but do take care of yourself and drink tons of water and eat oranges or other fresh fruits as they can help.

Good luck and don't stress the small things.. relax and take the day to treat yourself good. Get a facial and take a nap.

I have been getting sick off and on since October!!! Better for 3 days then I get something else. Try taking some magnesium. It helps my panic attacks. Are you on anything for it? I don't take anything but talking to a friend on the phone really helps. Email me if you need some one to talk to. I know how you feel sweetie and I'm sorry. Don't worry its not cancer.

Panic attacks are totally psychological but the symptoms are very real, often mimicking a heart attack. Constant worry and stress also wears down your immune system making you more susceptible to other illnesses such as colds.
Thousands of people are in the same place as you. what you need is knowledge of what is physically happening to you and how to control it and yes it is all in the breathing. At the onset of the panic feelings - long slow deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth. practice this even when you are relaxed. Most important- believe in yourself, spend time with people who like you and remember your good points. Most anxiety is based in low self esteem.
