Has anyone with Panic disorder had a healthy calm pregnancy?

I suffer from panic disorder but I want to have a baby, i'm scared that i will be pregnant and have panic attacks and that this will negatively affect the baby...any thoughts/experiences?

come on guys with your answers.....you are scaring this poor woman to death and it is so unnecesary!!!! Panic disorder is not that unusual and usually can be solved in a short period of time with a good psychiatrist. The genetic tendencies for mental health problems are there, but with an effort to control stress in your life, it doesn't ever have to be triggered. I know....I am bi-polar and have 3 wonderful adult children. Two of them have had in the past panic disorders which were stopped and guess what?????? They enjoyed wonderful pregnancies and have between the two,5 of the healthiest, well adjusted kids in the world. Go see the best psychiatrist you can find.....it is not a big deal when treatment is needed. Go for it!!!!! Your babies will be fine....

pregnancy change mine i felt good through all of them the vitamins help.

The only thing you have to fear is fear itself, so be very afraid, because it is all around you.

Or you could watch calming movies like Alien or Slingblade to help you better deal with your pregnancy.

You can but your child can inherit your anxiety and or depression so watch for signs in your children.

BABIES CAN SENSE YOUR FEAR EVEN BY BEING IN THE WIMB BUT IF YOU DO HAVE PANIC ATTACKS ITS GETS WORSE AFTER YOU DELIVER I KNOW IVE BEEN THERE.

I also suffer from panic disorder...but I've never been pregnant because I'm fourteen...but I found this cool article a woman wrote about her experience with pregnancy and panic disorder: http://www.anxietysupport.org/cc02menu.h...
I hope this helps! Good luck :)

when i was 5 months along with my first i had a horrible panic attack... i thought i was going to die and was in labor at the same time... even tho i wasn't... OMG it was horrible! just try to stay relaxed and dont get stressed out! good luck to you

Yes my sis had 5 children no problem

Please do not *panic* about the Panic disorder.

:-)

I have Panic Disorder also and I have a four year old daughter. I honestly feel like the short time that I was pregnant was the best I've felt in my whole life. Everything seemed to be right for a change and even though I worried about having a 'normal' healthy child, she came out fine. I think the vitamins may have helped, but just seems like when everyone is taking care of you and concerned for your safety as an expectant mom, it makes you feel really good. It is really up to you whether you think you are well enough to bare children or not. I would talk about it with the doctor. Just some reassurance works wonders. I must add that I did have to run a few people off after she was born because I just couldn't take all the attention anymore:) But they were understanding and all was well. I have actually been thinking about the possibility of having another child a lot here lately. Having a child will change your life and for the better if you let it.
Good luck to you!

Try taking classes on yoga, tia chi and meditation before getting pregnant and during. A friend of mine did this and had hypnosis during the delivery and was fine as well as the baby.

See if you can therapy to help you with your panic attacks off the doctor, usually a occupational therapist or community psychiatric nurse can help you overcome your fears and help you rehabilitate your habits such as breathing and relaxation techniques.

talk 2 a dr about it. it will help u with your pregnancy.

I don't know that much about Panic disorder but by the name I wouldn't have a baby, you might panic when it is time to deliver.
