Please help i suffer anxiety disorder and panic attack?


Does anyone knows of a medication to treat anxiety and panic disorder that does not cause weight gain plue depression too.Or any other thing i can to to control the attack i have them every day .Please need help

Most vital is that when you feel it coming on, do not go into fear mode that you are about to have one because that will only escalate it and don't try to escape from it-embrace the attack and breath slowly and gently into it. Comfort yourself the way you would an innocent child. In general, I highly recommend you do some writing and allow your deepest feelings to pour out onto the paper-no one else has to ever see what you wrote if that adds to your sense of safety. But let yourself release some of what is within you and be gentle with yourself! Have you meditated before?

Generic of Zanax (Alprozolam) at a low dosage. In the first month I lost 20#. Consult your physician!!!

Xanax (Alprazolam) is the most common medication for this that I'm aware of. Though, a much more natural remedy seems to be exercise.

When I was having bad panic attacks I was taking a fast acting klonopin. When you start having an attack you put the pill in your mouth and it just dissolves and makes the attack subside. And I don't remember what pill I was taking daily. But you have to go to the psychiatrist to have them prescribed. Good luck!

I have the same problem, I have panic attacks in my sleep and am anxious alot. My doctor had me on BusPar but changed it to Zoloft when I began getting migraines daily. Good luck I hope you feel better soon.

There are many medications that could hep these issues. do you see a psychiatrist? if so talk to him/her about what medication is right for you. also tell them them that you do not want weight gain. i know Zoloft helps with everything ask your doctor about that. also doing some relaxation exercises helps very much, try guided imagery. hope this helps. good luck.

Yeah, your doctor knows. Why wouldn't you go see a doctor if you are having anxiety attacks.

They'll probably treat the severe attacks with a benzodiazepine such as valium, clonazepam, ativan or xanax (these can all become addictive, but don't cause weight gain).

They will want you to take an SSRI, most of which will make you gain weight.

Many of the SSRI class of medications are used to control obesity. They tend to have a "weight loss" result in many patients. Having had anxiety/panic attacks for many years, coupled with depression, I would much rather be a little overweight than deal with those symptoms. Actually I take Prozac for the last three years and have never had a problem with weight gain. It has alleviated my symptoms. best wishes

There's a kick butt book called the panic disease. You can basically find it cheaply on half.com for about 75 cents. It's from the 70s/80s but it gives you practical ways to handle the panic attacks. You might benefit from outpatient counseling because panic attacks can severely attack your quality of life and you deserve a life worth living.

Cognitive behavioral therapy will help. You need to retrain your brain to deal with the attacks. Remember you will NOT die from a panic attack...

As for the mediciations zoloft/paxil/ type of antidepressants are good. But then your sex life is zapped.

Hello...I will give you a tip: NEVER BE AFRAID OF A PANIC ATTACK. If you are afraid, you will get another one. But if you are not afraid, the panic attack will last some time and they go away. I took prozac combined with rivotril (however that was years ago, I think now there are more modern meds). Also join yoga (you`ll learn breathing techniques) and acupuncture. (I was a panic attack sufferer) and after a year I was cured. Good luck

Hi! I鈥檓 sorry to hear you are feeling bad. If you want to try some self-help, the following steps should help eliminate (or significantly reduce) your panic attacks:

1. Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective.
