How do i get over panic disorder?

i have had panic disorder for 16 years now,and i have tried everything so far nothing is helping me.i still fear the sysetoms.
i go to the er.alot.they know me well therenow.
can anyone help ??????????

The only 2 groups I know of that have had a lot of success with this are Christian therapists with a lot of prayer and life healing

or Cognitive Behavior Therapists who can retrain your thinking Take your pick.

Sometimes hypnotism helps. Have you tried that?

do you smoke?? If you do quit because that was a major factor in my panic disorders.. I haven't had one since I quit 3 years ago.. it was really hard but exercise helps alot with everything.. if you don't smoke exercise might help.. try to get to the bottom of these.. where are you when they happen, maybe something is triggering them and you can stay away from it.. good luck!

Do you see a psychologist on a regular basis? That would probably be your best bet. Then, he/she might refer you to a psychiatrist if medication might be in order. Good luck. Going to the ER frequently will not, however reduce your symptoms or your frequency of panic attacks...that just reinforces the behavior.

Stop being afraid.

It takes a lot of work and commitment. If you can train your body to respond correctly when you are having a panic attack, it makes a huge difference. Concentrate on breathing slowly, but not too deeply. If you smoke, quit. Cut caffeine out of your diet. Don't indulge in bad thoughts, don't let yourself daydream. As cheesy as this sounds, try to think good thoughts before you go to bed. This will help you to not have nightmares, and get through the next day better.

Oh hunnie, I know what that's all about. Although, I don't go to the ER, I live with anxiety and it SUCKS! Look up on the internet Lucinda Bassett. She writes a couple of great books and they really helped me. Also, you just have to work through them. You have to fight your fears head on. You can do it. I have come a long way. I don't take any meds although for some people they really do help. Good luck, its not easy.

I think your best best is to use meditating skills for a minutes to clear your mind. If this doesn't work you should talk to a doctor or phychiatrist who is qulified to tell you how to make the panic attacks stop. Try not to let them put you on medications though because I think that's ridiculous. What do you think they did back then when there was no medication available. They learned to cope with their problems normally. (Sorry I really don't like meds. They screw up your body).

Ohh!!!! OHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OHHHHHHHHH!!!!...

Sorry, I panicked.

cognitive therapy works best, along with medications. you do not need the medications the rest of your life, but they can give you relief, so that you may benefit from therapy. good luck . exercise, sleeping and eating well also can work for mild anxiety.

There are many complementary and natural therapies that you can try eg. emotional freedom technique, meditation, hypnotism and also taking some herbal remedies.

With doing research, you can narrow down those therapies that appear to work and try to see if they would be helpful to you.

You are on anti anxiety drugs I assume?
Do not let it take control. You are the creator of the panic attacks The panic attacks do not create you.
You have never died from a panic attack. But you can kill it.
Know that it is just that , a panic attack
I have found guided meditation helps. Look 'for a CD offering guided meditation and choose a CD that lists guided relaxation among its subjects as well . It helped me. It can do the same for you.
But you must be willing to work at it. But once you try it, you'll find it easy work and oh so welcome.
