What could cause Pancreatic cancer ?


Does excessive drinking cause Pancreatic cancer ? What are the causes ?

the risk factors for pancreatic cancer include:

-Age : The age group 65 - 79 has the highest incidence of cancer of the pancreas.
-Male gender .
-African ethnicity .
-Smoking .
-Diets high in meat : it's recommended to increase consumption of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains while decreasing red meat intake.
-Obesity : Maintaining a healthy weight and exercising may be helpful.
-Diabetes mellitus .
-baceterial and viral infections such as : Gingivitis or periodontal disease,Chronic pancreatitis has been linked, but is not known to be causal ,Helicobacter pylori infection .
-Occupational exposure to certain pesticides, dyes, and chemicals related to gasoline .
-Heredity!Family history.

***Cigarette smoking is considered to be the most significant and avoidable risk factor for pancreatic cancer.

*** a long-term study concluded that taking Vitamin D can substantially cut the risk of pancreatic cancer (as well as other cancers) by up to 50%. also several studies, indicate that B vitamins such as B12, B6, and folate, can reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer when consumed in food, but not when ingested in vitamin tablet form.

Yes, excessive drinking can cause it. You can also just be genetically predisposed to it and get it without ever drinking a drop of alcohol. The main causes are:
* Smoking
* Advanced age
* Male sex
* Chronic pancreatitis -- inflammation of the pancreas,
usually from excessive alcohol intake or gallstones
* Diabetes mellitus
* Family history of pancreatic cancer.
