Luciano Pavarotti, the famous Opera singer just recently died at the age of 71 from Pancreatic Cancer, which?

is one of the most aggressive and devasting forms of cancer. My question is, what causes this? Over eating? Over drinking of alcohol? I know Pav was very heavy, loved to eat and drink wine, etc. Or is do we just chalk it up as, natural causes why it happened? Are there ways to prevent your body from getting Pancreatic Cancer?

1. Go to: www@webmd.com.

Good luck! I'm not a great fan of opera, but I miss Pavarotti.

lots of strain on the pancreas can be caused by yo-yo dieting...and he did alot of that...so did Caruso...

By going to school

My older brother died of it last year, the doctor said they felt it was caused by chemicals. I'm not sure what chemicals, my brother was a Priest and didn't have lots to do with chemicals. To be honest I don't think they know what causes it.

No one knows for sure. Recently some investigators postulated that pancreatic ca may be caused by chronic inflammation of the gums. There are probably several other causes that we only have an inkling about now.

The usual suspects are all linked to it: smoking, diabetes, diets high in meat, genetics, and obesity. But there are other things that are also linked to it, like long time exposure to gasoline, gingivitis, and stuff like that. It's pretty hard to know what causes it, like most other cancers. Pretty much, if you live long enough, you'll develop some sort of cancer.

pancreatic cancer is much higher in Japan than any other country. It is usually thought that the one big thing between their diets and those of other countries is the amount of salt. High salt diets have been shown to increase your risk. Dieting wouldn't do it.... you might also want to avoid meats that are preserved with nitrates as they would also cause damage to the lining of the pancreous like salt.

This is an impossible question to answer because no one knows what causes one person to get cancer while another one does not. In the vast majority of cases no one knows what caused the cancer . . but people for some reason always try to blame the person who has the cancer . . if we knew for a fact what caused cancer than we could all avoid it. But, the fact remains that even people who smoke do not always get cancer and there are those with lung cancer who never smoked. No one knows why anyone gets pancreatic cancer. It is far more likely that it is an internal 'cause' associated with an individuals DNA.

There is no known way to prevent pancreatic or any other cancer.
