My dad has pancreatic cancer and he has stoppped going out? |
places because he's in pain and rather be in the comfort of his home, how do I explain to my boys that the time is drawing near for grandpa to go to heaven? they're 9&11 they know he has cancer and will die but the don't see that he's going downhill now my dad tries really hard not show them how he's really feeling. I think just being straight forward is the best way. When they don't see it you can say he doesn't want you to see it as long as he can control it. They will see soon enough what is going on. Don't hide it from them. That causes more problems. Just be honest with them and don't sugar coat anything. Explain to them the effects of the cancer and tell them that grandpa will be in Heaven where God will take care of him and that he will feel no more pain. Tell them grandpa will be gone in his earth body, but will still be alive in spirit and in their hearts forever. Good luck to you and I pray that everything will work out for all your family. Hi cutie pie, You don't need to burden them further if they are aware that he will die. Let them enjoy his company without having to think about his dying. Make the time enjoyable for them. Since they already know that he has cancer and is going to die, I wouldn't tell them any more. If they ask, then be honest. If they know he is dying they may be afraid to spend time with him. That wouldn't be good for them or your dad. Just let nature take it's course and let everyone enjoy what time they have. Good Luck. In a kind way you need to be totally honest. My dad passed away from this about 15 years ago. My dad however was very mean and unaccepting of his condition. You will do the thing you need to do. Blessings. |
