HELP! MY mom was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and it has spread to the liver..?

Has anyone dealt with this cancer or is aware of the best treatment.??? Anything...I beg of you.....

There is going to be aggressive treatment, and the treatments can make a person very ill.

I won't tell you what I think her prognosis (how long she will live, if she will get over it) is. I don't know how involved the cancer is -- if it's all organ encompassing or not. I don't know if surgery is an option or not. If surgery is an option that is a good sign. However that it has metastisized (spread) to her liver is a bad one.

My heart goes out to you. My grandfather lived for 4 years with colon cancer that had spread to his liver. I spent a good amount of time with him and I really got to know him and love him. The chemotherapy and I think 10 pill bottles he was taking made him pretty sick - however it prolonged his life.
He was not miserable though, he was happy that he got to know his family better and felt loved and supported the entire time. We never gave up hope until the day he left us, and I think that's part of the reason he lived so long and seemed to enjoy his time with us.

I can't tell you what your mom is going to do, if it is the same sort my grandpa had, what her options are.. I suggest you read those two sites and make an appointment to speak to her doctor. I also suggest you talk to your mom about it and tell her you really want to be kept aware of what is going on with her treatment and how she is feeling etc.

A lot of times people with cancer seem to try to hide what is really going on because they do not want to be a burden. You'll have to push through this and make her accept your help and caring. If the treatments make her very sick though, don't take all this on your shoulders. You will need your whole family to help out and support you too, and you may need a nurse. She may also spend some time in the hospital.

And never give up hope even if what you read and what the doctor says makes you frightened. If her doctor says to you "she's not going to make it through this", insist to her she get a new doctor until you find one willing to say.. "I think we can beat this together". Why? It's not the people with doctors who give up that make it.

Medicine is amazing now and people survive these dangerous and often deadly cancers EVERY DAY. Your life is going to change drastically. You need to find someone you can talk to about how you are feeling -- be it a family member, doctor, therapist, supportive friend, etc.. because it's not just her that will be fighting.

Don't let me frighten you though! You will become a better person because of this no matter the outcome and you will really find that you are a LOT stronger than you may think.

Her doctor would know. Don't ask strangers. I have seen and heard some people recommend herbs that can be even more dangerous when taken in the wrong quantities. Listen to the doctor.

All i can say is OUCH, I'm so sorry to hear that...

spend lots of time with her now and be a shoulder for her...she will need that MOST...

my grandmother died of breast cancer.The best thing u can do in my opion is just stay as calm as posible and do everything the doctor says and get lots of second opions

Pray a lot to God, and eating garlic and olive oil helps, but mostly pray to God, when it comes to medicine, I do not know, the doctor will tell u what he believes is best, and then just follow instruction....She will be in my prayers too.

my sympathies go out to you and your mother. I have had many patients with this problem. There is not much you can do that is not being done medically. I would recommend you have your mother drink fresh carrot juice every day. Also eat fresh papaya daily. These do help with digestion which is very difficult with this type of cancer. I wish I had the magic answer for you.

My aunt had that. That can be very bad. If they caught it early enough she might respond to chemo. My aunt's was too advanced so she decided against chemo and decided to do things she'd never done and just try to enjoy her last months with her friends and family. She lived for over a year after the diagnosis.

I hope they caught your mom's early enough!

Go and take some cesium chloride with rubidium and DMSO. Also take some oxygen drops, and ip6 pills. Also, take an aloe vera plant, a fresh one from the local floral shop, and cut off their pricks. A few years ago a cancer researcher came out with a paper saying that the best cancer and infection fighter as yet found was Interferon, but, at the time, it cost $15,000 a gram.
