Goals of palliative care?

what are the goals of palliative care?

Palliative measures are given to patients to improve their level of comfort. For example, you can't cure the common cold, but you can treat the sniffly water eyes with medication. Chicken soup will soothe your throat.

The goal would be to increase one's level of comfort.

Palliative care is a service that basically helps to make a terminally ill patient as comfortable as possible for their last days.

The goals of palliative care are:

Minimizing unnecessary diagnositics and treatments that will only prolong the inevitiable and using only comfort measures.

Allowing a patient to take control of their destiny and make their own choices to preserve their dignity and the comfort of their family.
