For the terminally ill, are palliative care "exit drugs" not only used for pain, but for euthanasia?

ABSOLUTELY!

Really. Do you think that they would give an unmonitored morphine drip to someone who wasn't terminal?

My father-in-law could hit the button at any time for more morphine. He had terminal cancer by the time he went into hospice. Between the morphine and sentinel, I think that did its part in "helping him along".

I don't think so. I think that when one is not in pain constantly the transition into death in made easier for the patient. I think that palliative care is an important part of their care. Would you want to die in complete and total pain?
