Painkillers, how do i ask my doctor for them without him thinking i am a druggie? |
have DDD in my neck and lumbar, i don't think i want an epidural. i have used painkillers before and did not get hooked. Tell him exactly that--you have pain and want to be able to control it at home on your own. He will know that you have been on prescription pain meds in the past and had no problems, since it is in your record, but you may want to remind him. just ask him.. i dont think he will think your a druggie...your in pain right? The only way is to talk to him. Give him all your symptoms, what you have taken in the past to help. all the other things you might have done to help this with out pain medicine. Just because we hurt, doesn't mean you are addicted if you need the medication. There are also pain centers here in the US. I am not sure where you are from, but you should start with your regular doctor and see what he can do to help you get through this. I recommend massage therapy, or acupuncture. It has helped so many people. I have to agree with the previous poster, simply tell the doctor why you want pain medication and see what he has to say. you will Don't know how to answer this. I hate painkillers and have to be nearly dead to take them. I don't know what DDD is , oh... |
