Co-codamol painkillers to help me sleep.? |
I had a dental procedure and was given some co-codamol to help with the pain. I've found that these help me get to sleep as I have always had trouble getting to sleep and have not been able to find anything that can help. Hi Sugga, You should only have them for pain,,8 being a maximum,,No doctor will prescribe these as these as a sleep aid,,they are a strong analgesic Co-codamol will help you to sleep because they contain codeine. Co-codomal is really really bad for people getting addicted for some reason, and its not even that much stronger than paracetamol. So your GP is unlikely to give you any, especially to help you sleep. I'd try other things to help you sleep if I were you e.g. lavender on the pillow, warm bath, no caffeine after 6, warm milky drink etc, and if that all fails then go and try some over the counter preparations. Sleeping pills are also not something your GP is likely to give out easily and they can be a nasty viscious cycle. These are awful. I was on them recently, they made me sick, dizzy and I couldn't sleep for the life of me, but I guess they effect us all differently. Your doctor won't prescribe them for sleep as they screw up your liver and supposedly cause anorexia and are very addictive. Your doctor will help you with sleep though, so you should still go and see him. You could try Benadryl. But, why not talk it through with your |
