What can taking to many painkillers do to you?

if you take more painkillers than you should but not enough to kill you will it still cause damage? Like, with ibuprofen you need to take 2 of them but sometimes i take from 5-10 (don't ask) and i was wondering what could happen because of it? Will it kill my liver or something like that?

i should add that i don't really take it cause im in pain, but i don't know if that affects the situation.

You don't want to take too much of any one painkiller because they all act differently. Tylenol,(acetophetomin) will turn your liver into a rock if you take too many. Yes you can die from acetophetomin poisoning because it is a toxin and taking in a large quantity, it will poison you by killing your liver and then the result is death. Painkillers should be taken in moderation and not for recreational use. Remember, don't take more that you need to get the job done for you can build up tollerances with any painkiller. I take narcotic painkillers for severe l-4 l-5 and s-1 nerve damage. It has been 9 years and I have built up tolerances that would put you in a coma for days that I take 2 X's a day. If you have that much pain, I suggest going to a pain management Dr. for some help. There is a difference from being an addict (doing painkillers for recreational use) and having your body physically dependent on them.

You're not overdosing your just over using, it's not that bad but it can add up. It takes like 30+ painkillers to due some serious damage, I know a chick who took 52 painkillers to flush out her stomache cause she was pregnant.

IF NOT ENOUGH PAINKILLERS MAKE YOUR PAIN GO AWAY, YOU SHOULD CONTACT A DOCTOR, SO THAT HE CAN PRESCRIBED YOU SOMETHING THAT WON'T HARM YOU. AND IF THEY DO NOT KILL YOU, YOU CAN PROBABLY GO INTO COMMA OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. NEVER TEST YOUR LUCK, CUZ YOU NEVER KNOW

Look it up on www.webmd.com to be safe. I heard if its 600 mg ib. u can kill urself with 4. be smart talk to ur doctor so u dont damage anything ur covering the pain. Sometime covering the pain can cause u more troubles then u realize.

It can kill you, actually. Seriously. Like mentioned in a previous answer, it can add up in your system. So if you take 5-10 a few times in a day, you could be threatening your organs (even your stomach, you can cause things like ulcers as well), as well as threatening your life. Every person has their own threshold for how many is to many. But my suggestion is that you don't test this threshold.
If nothing else, it's a waste of money. 5 won't work any better than 3 and 10 won't work any better than ten.

iburpofen is bad for your kidneys (or is it your liver) its bad for one of them, my cousins ex actually ended up in the hospital from taking to many of them. All medications are bad for you in one way or another when you take too much of them
