Is crack more addictive than painkillers and xanax?

i am addicted to painkillers and xanax ...and im trying to quit without going to rehab i use to do cocaine and was able to stop is it possible to kick this habit on my own ...........sincerly yours desperate and depressed ..... may god bless

I'm going to explicitly disagree with the user above me. Withdrawals from xanax and other benzodiazepines can be as bad or worse than opiates. Quitting cold turkey from a high dose of xanax can easily result in seizures and subsequent death.

In terms of comparing a crack habit to an opiate or xanax addiction I will say this: Cocaine is not physically addicting. However, the mental addiction (especially from crack cocaine) can be much harder to overcome than one from xanax.

The key to getting off both painkillers and xanax is to set yourself up with a solid taper plan and stick with it. If your addiction stems from prescription, I strongly recommend you speak with your doctor in order to make a reasonable plan for quitting.

If you are using medicine obtained off the street then you need to organize a plan that takes into account your daily use and allows you to come off the medicine slowly over a period of weeks. Make the plan, buy the medicine you will need, but give it to a family member or friend who is familiar with your plan and can give it to you as needed. Delete your dealers numbers and disassociate yourself from people and places that support your habit.

Painkillers have to be slowly weaned from your system over a period of about 6 months under a doctors supervision. Xanax is not so bad. Why are you asking about crack? It is the worst. Stay away from it.
