How do i cure a headache without painkillers?

My dad always gets this headache that lasts for like a day or two.
I sometimes get it too, but its rare.
I know painkillers like advil will solve it but he doesn't like medicine.
His symptoms are that its kind of shocking headache that hurts only if he moves the head rapidly.
Can someone suggest a way without medicine to cure this?

1. Ok, thanks, but he doesn't like any of those things even more than painkillers, he claims it disturbs him...
2. He often just gets better after a sleep, but meanwhile, he is very grumpy because of it.
3. Is there any home recipe that could help?

Sounds like migrains and he needs to seek medical assistace. Often, deep breathing, darkness, no caffine will help. But this needs to be medically evaluated - for both of you.

Chiropractic and massage. These two things will get rid of headaches all together. It is usually a mis alligned vertabrae causing the muscles to tense that cause a headache.

Buy him a metal/magnet bracelet.
It works wonders, trust me my dad has the SAME problem; but my mom gave him her bracelet and it worked for him.

I know this sounds perverted, but it is a homeopathic cure. MASTURBATE!!!!!! But do it slowly so it lasts at least 15-20 mins at least. This loosens all the muscles in your body and makes you less tense. It will make you relax. Probably will get rid of the headache. Give it a shot. If it works, great. If not, you will need caffeine pills like Excedrin or something. But I hate taking that crap.

Has he ever tried seeing a chiropractor? It could be helpful.

i get the same thing my doctors dunno what it is and ive found if u get a a position where u get blood rushin to ur head like standing on ur head or lettin ur head hang off the edge of the couch while the rest of ur body is on it it will cures it but for only times that u got blood rushin to ur head and if u pull it back up it will hurt even worse but only for a second... idk if this will work for u but it does for me so when i get a massive head ache i hang my head off the couch so it dont hurt then goto sleep and whn i wake up the head ach be done pasted

Jus massage inbetween your fingers your headache will go away

A nice relaxing bath....

Have someone massage your temples....

Light some relaxing insence or candles....

Take a nap....

Since it only hurts when he moves his head rapidly it may be in his neck. A Chiropractor, Massage Therapist or Osteopath may be able to locate and adjust the neck to proper alignment.

First, his headache could be indicative of something very serious or something very minor. Any number of disease conditions or injuries(even minor and thought to have healed) could be the cause. In this situation, I would recommend he see a doctor.If you both get a headache at the same time, this would most likely indicate the two of you have been exposed to something (i.e.-chemical,allergen) causing the headache.The obvious solution would be to idntify and avoid contact.

I get headaches too.
The first thing i try to do is eat regular and go to bed at the same time everynight. (of course its kinda hard to do cus i have a 2 month old son).
And since i cant really do either of those very well I drink an energy drink every day and if i cant do that then i drink coffee and lots of it.
it may also be an allergy headache so you can try taking allergy meds and see if that helps =]

P.S. you will have to drink the caffine everyday for it to work. if you forget, soon as u feel the headache comming on drink an energy drink.

Get a cold pack and keep it in the freezer. Place it on the area that hurts the most, for three minutes. Then remove the cold and let the area warm up. Then repeat for another three minutes. keep doing this four or five times. A bag of frozen corn or peas will also work.

Take two thick slices of raw ginger and heat them in the microwave - don't get them burning hot! Place one slice on each temple.

Try a tea called Tension Tamer, made by Celestial Seasonings.

Use a neck roll or a rolled up towel under the neck while sleeping.

Do not lay down to read or watch TV.

Massage your feet! Really.

And do see a doctor to get it checked out.
