Do you know of any good painkillers that are chewable?

If doctors are so "smart" then why have they not developed an effective yet chewable pain killer? I am one among thousands of people who can not swallow pills. I'm sorry, but when I was little I prided myself on being the only child not to swallow rocks.

So now that I'm all grown up and all that, people are telling me, "Okay, honey. It's O.K. to swallow rocks." Only they're not rocks, they're pills! ((Though as far as I know, they probably taste the same...))

Please, I'm tired of crushing ibuprofen's and pamprins! Is there any really effective pain killer out there that's chewable? I can't take Motrin or Childrens tylenol anymore. It doesn't work!

And, if you don't know of any painkillers, then could you at least give me tips for trying to swallow a rock?

You might consider buying Children's liquid ibuprofen or Children's liquid Tylenol and taking an adult sized dose (e.g. 400 mg of the ibuprofen or 650-1000 mg of the Tylenol). You mention above that the Children's ibuprofen/Tylenol isn't working anymore - are you taking adult sized doses of it?

From my days as a youth, I fondly remember Children's Chewable Tylenol. Tasted VERY good! Don't know if it's still on the market - there might have been concern about kids overdosing on it because it was so very good (certainly was an issue for me one day!).

If aspirin is an option for you, you might consider 8 chewable baby aspirin at a time - is equal to two adult aspirin.

Prescription-wise, Tylenol with codeine is available as a liquid as is Lortab (hydrocodone/acetaminophen - think of it as liquid Vicodin).

How about Liquid Roxicet?
