Iwas injured on my job. The comp Doctor gave me painkillers and said I could return to work. How can I drive m

The painkillers are percs and codine 3's. How do I Drive my patience while taking drugs that make me high? According to this Doctor I can & have to return to work. I can hardly walk or get in & out of my car without horrible pain in my leg & hip. I can't walk uphill. What am I supposed to do for income while I'm healing? It happened last April.

Start by talking to the doctor and your boss. If you need time off, the workers comp insurance should cover your wages. Unfortunately it takes time for it to kick in, but then goes retoactive. If your to high to drive your better off to not take the meds or get differents meds (if they expect you at work). Any boss in his / her right mind will agree with you, as narcotics are not suppose to taken when operating machinery or driving.

Get a comp lawyer = he can help you get money for time lost at work.

You need a better doctor. Chances are, since you were injured at work your job picked this doctor and of course they want him to say that you can return to work because they don't want to pay you if you're not actually there. He's working for them not you. Also, look into your company's policies about work injuries. And consult a lawyer to see what your legal rights are.

If this happened last April, I'm hoping you're still not seeing the industrial clinic. Either way, by now you should be able to elect your own treating physician depending on what State you are in. In some minor cases, returning to work in some limited capacity (temporary work restrictions) can be therapeutic. However, in more severe cases being taken off work altogether is more appropriate. Discuss your issues with your doctor. If you think your doctor is being too aggressive in getting you back to work, call your adjuster to find out how to get a new doctor.

As far as your income, you're entitled to temporary disability benefits if the doctor takes you off work, or if the doctor gives you those work restrictions that your boss can't work around.

If you're motivated to go back to work, you need to find out from your doctor what is wrong with you, and what can be done about it so you can get back to work. Being on disability is no fun. Not working is also frustrating. Getting an attorney will also impact your employer financially because that will increase the cost of your claim.

If you aren't concerned about what happens to your employer, or if your adjuster is not doing anything for you, then getting an attorney will help you find that doctor that will take you off work. They know which doctors to refer you to. An attorney is supposed to help ensure you do get everything you're entitled to under your State's work comp system. This is especially helpful if your adjuster is not doing anything on your claim.

The point of work comp is to get you back to your pre-injury condition, cover lost wages when you can't work, and compensate you for permanent disability if treatment does not completely cure you. At that point, you'll get some permanent work restrictions and hopefully your employer can take you back in any capacity.
