How do pain relievers "help" the body, ie Advil, Tylenol, etc.. ? |
pain is not good for the body. do pain relievers like Advil and Tylenol help the body or do they simply mask the pain? should we take pain relievers (obviously i'm not talking about super frequently to the point of abuse), but are they recommended or should the body work thru the pain? I'm looking for a SCIENTIFIC answer, on a layman's level. Thanks there are many mediators of pain in our brain. Drugs like Aspirin and Advil relieve the pain by stopping inflammation. |

don't give up !!! i was told for 20 years that it was all in my head & that i needed a vacation, a trip with my hubby, psychiatrist visits, etc... finally went to a women's specia... Side effects are a real problem. You could be damaging your kidneys, etc. What you could do is to try a Yahoo search for "side effects" + ------------ and check out each pain reliever... Alieve ...CALL POISON CONTROL NOW. IF YOU ARE NOT TOO LATE IN ACTING, THERE MAY BE A HOME REMEDY. But you won't know unless you make that call and make it IMMEDIATELY. Medication usually gets into... this depends on a couple of things -was this an accidental overdose or intentional? if done on purpose to harm yourself-then i would seek psychiatric treatment right away. -how much did you t... Midol is great. If he won't take that get him some Aleve--it works great too! ...If the pain doesn't come back either A) the pill had a placebo effect on you and your body is tricked into thinking it feels better and therefore does or B) the pain was relatively minor and b... theres nothing you can do except take the pain relievers. sorry-your just going to have to tough it out. ... |
