So I just took 5 pain relievers and I'm thinking it was stupid, how about you?

Well my side started hurting so I garbed a bottle of pain relievers and swallowed 5 of them. So now I'm reading the bottle and it says "do not exceeded 2 caplets within an 8-10 hour period" and d"do not take more than 3 caplets within 24 hours" so um is that bad, cause I'm thinking it is.

it was just asprin, and yeah I'm getting a two sided answer and I can't desside which is right. I mean my teenaged way of finding out which is right would be trusting the people with the pretty avatars. but I know that won't help, so someone who knows, and isn't guessing please answer

My mom is an RN, I'm a chronic pain patient, and I have made it my mission to study and research medications ever since I started having chronic pain 5 years ago. I have more books about medications, the PDR and other reference guides, than I can count. I can promise you that the information I'm giving you is accurate, so pay attention even if you don't think I have a pretty avatar. :)

If it's only aspirin, the worst thing that's going to ahppen to you is that you're going to get a really bad case of acid refulx. Don't lie down for 30 mintues after taking the aspirin and that should help with the reflux. That's what the warning is trying to protect you from, the aspirin eating away your stomach lining and causing a bleeding ulcer. OTC medications usually are a lower dose than what a prescription dose would be. For example, the Aleve bottle I have says do not exceed 2 capsules in a 24 hour period, but a prescription dose of Anaprox (the prescription version of Aleve) is 650 mgs twice a day, which is 3 Aleve twice a day. A prescription strength dose of Advil is 800 mgs every 6 hours, which adds up to 4 over the counter advil 4 times a day. The only exception to this is Tylenol. You should NEVER take more than 4000 mgs (4 grams) of Tylenol a day, and you shouldn;t take a high dose for several days in a row. It will kill you by damaging your liver. But with aspirin, you'll be fine, just don't make a habit of it or you'll wind up with a bleeding ulcer.

Eat something , lots of fluids and stay out of the car; you'll be fine later in the day.

you should be okay, but you could get liver damage, try and drink lots of water to make the tablets thinner , bt i dont think it would work

How do you feel now?
Giddiness?
Take two "Rantac" tablets 150 mg. each
immediately.

like maybe you should go to the ER

It is bad. Go see a doctor and drink alot of water.
(Not too sure about the water part though)

it depend on a lotta things give your local hospital a call and talk to them or call the poisons line

Acetaminophen in high doses causes liver damage. Could also cause internal bleeding. Even worse if you are an alcoholic or drink more than two drinks a day. You'll probably be ok, but I dont want to see you do this ever again!

I think ur pretty stupid for taking 5 pills...go call ur doctor and ask

were they pain kllers like perkacet or oxi's or was it just asprin?
If it was a pain killer perscribed by a doctor your most likley going to throw up a lot and get so sick to your stomache. but after you yuke i think youll be ok. prepare to get very very itchy. just dont scratch around your eyes cuz they can get swollen shut (learned that the hard way) you need to post the name of the medication.
if it was just asprin you should be ok but whos to say what type of damage youve done to your stomache.
Try not to overdose, painkillers are opiates witch is pretty much heroin, same plant same feeling just the doctor prescribes one and the other is illegal. go throw it up, get in bed and watch some tv youll be fine

You need some professional medical advice, QUICKLY

i think you will live. If anything, you might get nausea

at 15, you are till a kid,,, never exceed the recommeded amount of any med

A fatal dose occurs at around 500mg of aspirin per kilogram of bodyweight. Death most often occurs due to pulmonary edema, which means basically you drown.

Aspirin intoxication may be caused by the use of just fifteen to twenty tablets a day. Symptoms can include dizziness, headache, shock, ringing in the ears, disorientation, internal-tissue bleeding, hallucinations, incoherent speech, asthma attacks, gastric disturbances, convulsions, and coma.
For most adults, 20 to 30 grams (60 to 90, adult-strength tablets) will stop your headache permanently.
Your dose will thin your blood and may make it seem hard to catch your breath but you will be OK. Just don't do it anymore and know that the harm you could do to yourself could be major if it keeps happening.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

If it was just asperin, and not Tylenol, you at worst gave yourself a really upset stomach and thinned your blood out big time - be careful not to cut yourself for a while.

I will say that some folks do have pain management issues and consume even more than you did, but it's under a doctors care, and bloodwork is done regularly. I can't imagine that the 5 you took did more than give you a stomach ache.

Next time take two, it should be enough. for now, drink some cold milk, it'll line your insides. Asprin tends to give me a burning belly, so eat some food and DRINK MILK.
