Are there any interactions with Lithium and pain relievers? |
I take Lithium for bipolar disorder and was wondering about the best pain reliever to take with it. I have bad TMJ pain. Seems like there are some interactions but I don't recall. Thanks. So it looks like aspirin is a good choice? Or, which other pain relievers work well with Lithium? Lithium and Ibuprofen or Naproxen Sodium can have adverse reactions in the body. The non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID's) affect the functions of the kidneys to filter out excess Lithium. It could lead to an overdose of Lithium in the body. Vicoprofen, a narcotic analgesic can be another med that poses a reaction, and you should not take while on Lithium. You should call your doctor, nurse or pharmacist if uncertain. medical marijuana Check out http://www.crazymeds.org or ask at http://www.crazyboards.org. Sound advice about NSAIDs though. |
