How Strong are "Strong" pain relievers?

i suffer from arthritis and have taken sustained release morphine and high strength co-codamol, but recently had the morphine changed to morphine sulphate "instant" caplets. Q; when these start to lose effect, then what ? any idea's ?

I think once our bodies get used to whatever pain medicine we take that's when the pain medicine no longer works stopping the pain. If the medicine stops helping you with the pain my suggestion is you talk with your doctor. He might be able to give you somethig that is high dose. Then when you no longer need it slowly take you off of it. A friend said acupuncture is good with pain. I probably spelled that word wrong. Little needles in different areas of our bodies helps relieve the pain. I am quoting my friend who says the little needles does help with pain.

time to pack your bags and head off to the next life

You are at the top of the tree as far as pain relief goes, i was on sustained morphine followed up by co-co's afterwards after a bike smash. You up the dose anymore and you'll morph' yourself out, eg. die.

cannabis is used for pain relief although you would need to discuss this with your GP but morphine is quite a powerful pain killer although the body becomes resistant to any drug and then the dose has to be increased.

I am not being facetious but have you tried marijuana for pain I hear lots of people swear by it and seemingly you can get it on prescription in pill form from the doctors.
I would think the doctor would increase your dosage of Morphine sulphate.

Why aren't you taking anti-inflamatory medications? Morphine or Oxicontin MS are pretty strong drugs. Have you tried accupuncture or gold injections? I'd seek a second or third opinion if I were you.

Ask to be considered for gold injections
