Pain reliever/sedatives??

do some pain relievers have sedatives in them?Because i was prescribed amiltriptiline for pain from fibromyalgia but when i researched it it said it is a sedative medication-sedatives dont help for pain do they?thanks

Ambitriptiline is prescribed for a number of different things, from depression to helping with nerve pain. It is not the type of pain medicine that you will feel the effect right away, its more on working to ease your pain long term. If you need additional pain relief then you could ask your doctor for something for Breakthrough pain. You should read more about ambitriptiline though, because if that was all you got in your research it was a bad article.

i was prescribed amiltriptyline for pain and it did not help me..frankly it made me dizzy and have double vision but it is different for everyone

It is a pain reliever and it is also used for insomnia off label. Its used for many different things. I take it for neuropathy (nerve pain) It gets rid of the pain and also helps me sleep. I really like it.

I have severe Fibromyalgia. I'm being treated by cold laser therapy and it REALLY WORKS! www.denvercoldlaser.com. Also research cold laser through Google. I also take Amiltriptiline, Neurontin and Cymbalta. I know the Neurontin and Cymbalta help but I can live without Amiltriptiline. For me the Neurontin + Cymbalta help me get a good night's sleep.
