I am experiencing really bad cramps right now. What do you women think are the best pain relievers?

I usually take whatever is closest when I have cramps, but right now, my menstrual cramps are so bad I left work 3 hours early (I work 2nd shift) and I pretty much want to curl up in the fetal position. What have you ladies taken for very bad cramps that has worked well? I usually don't get cramps this bad so this doesn't happen often.

Aleve (naproxyn sodium) always worked best for me. And heat. A heating pad helps.

try Pamprin Max or Midol

I get horrible cramps too. So my best trick is annoying but works really well. Right when I get my period or I feel it coming i take some Midol. Then I exercise. For some reason, getting up and going on a run or walk helps so much! I didn't get any cramps for the rest of my period.

Good luck!

aspirin, ibuprofen, midol, and pamprin. Also a heat pack will help with cramps. Exercise will help also.

Take something like pamprin or midol and motrin and IB Profen also works well do to the anti-inflamatory agent in it. A hot bath and heating pad also helps for me, drinking blackberry tea also helps.

i get cramps so bad that i cry sometimes. i take tylenol chewables (for kids or adults.. those rapidtabs are the adult form) because they work super fast compared to pills, i dont care what anyone says, thats my experience. i force myself to sleep it off. sometimes i just take a teaspoon of nyquil and sleep ... the acetominophen in the nyquil is a pain reliever and the alcohol puts you to sleep. i dont advise doing that because its not smart... i mean dont take a whole bottle.. but when youre in severe pain, do whatever works. if you just need to sleep, take something. maybe tylenol pm? usually by the time you wake up, youre feeling better. like i said, im usually curled up in tears. not fun. then again, my period only lasts 2 days max... but its hell.

I cant swallow tablets so i wont be able to help you out on that one, but what I do when i have bad cramps is put a hot water bottle on my stomach, curl up in fetal position and rest. My tummy gets warm and i feel heaps better. Also, stay away from salts when u got periods, i heard it makes ur pains worse.
Get better! x

take 2 midols or any other cramp reliever, and eat apples. it works for me

Midol, Tylenol, basically any kind of meds specifically for menstrual cramping

I don't have cramps, so the best I can offer is what my daughters do. They both get a horrible case of the cramps every month. What works best for both of them is to take a higher dose of Ibuprophen when the cramping starts, and then alternate tylenol and ibuprophen so each type of medication is taken 6 hours apart, but something is being taken every 4 hours....like this:

6am - 800 mg of Ibuprophen
10am - 500 mg extra strength tylenol
Noon - one 200 mg ibuprophen
4pm - one 500 mg extra strenght tylenol
8pm - one 200 mg ibuprophen
12 am - one 500 mg tylenol

And then start over if necessary the next morning. What we've learned is that the initial higher dose of ibuprophen makes the pain go away, and then they steadily take the rest throught out the day (take it before the pain returns). It's clinically proven that if you take something regularly at the lowest dose, even when the pain's not present but after it's initally gone away, controlling the pain is more successful.

If your cramps become consistently painful with each period (you don't now but that may change over time) why not take a Tylenol or Excedrin the minute you get your period to get your body to fight back the cramps? I do not recommend taking anything on site. Stay with a routine and if one particular medication works, stick with it - which is why I carry Execedrin everywhere. Excedrin is my magic bullet for headaches, cramps, muscle ache etc.

MIDOL PMS is really good. Along with that just lay down and relax, try not to do to much .
HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER:]
BB:)

Try Midol maximum strength.
