What is the purpose of the cotton that is placed in bottles of pain relievers?

I mean really...

Allot of pain relievers and other meds. have cotton placed in the bottles to keep the pills dry and to prevent them from breaking into pieces during shipment..

So the pills won't rattle around... maybe??

I think its to collect any moisture that may get into the bottle and keep the pain killers as they should be????

The cotton merely secures the pills in the bottle so they don't rattle around prior to purchase and possible get broken or deformed from transport to the retailer.

It is to keep the pills from falling apart during shipping and stocking. But, they do it in bottles containing capsules, as well to keep them from settling.

The companies will say it's to keep moisture in-check.

The real reason is to prevent the few pills actually in the bottle from rattling around and giving an indication that you are being ripped-off.

To keep the apirin fom rattling in the bottle and breaking

to protect the drugs from shifting too much and breaking.

I agree with every one too

it is to absorb moisture and to keep the pills from breakage during shipping

to absorb moisture and prevent breakdown of the pills

KEEP THEM DRY AND STOP THEM RATTLING AROUND CAUSING THEM TO BREAK.
