Frequent chest pain/discomfort? |
I'm a college student who recently got married and moved to another city to go to school, so I'm no longer covered by my parents' insurance policy. I'm not sure how to go about seeing a doctor anymore, and I haven't since I've gotten married. I am seeking advice on my current situation and would appreciate any help you have on how I should handle it. The pain does not hurt when I press on my chest, and I haven't ever been able to produce it from exercise. It doesn't hurt when I take a breath, except during the sharp, stabbing pains. I'm not taking birth control pills and I've never smoked. I know EXACTLY what you are feeling! I have never been able to describe it as well as you have here but I have the exact same thing going on and the doctors have looked at my heart and said there is nothing wrong there. So they said they don't know what it is. I have been told several thing along the lines of heart burn, inflammation of the chest, and fibromialgia. None of which sound right to me, especially the fibromialgia becasue with that you have several points of pain and not just the one or two in the chest. I have tried taking anti-inflammatories when the pains happen alot but I haven't noticed any decrease in them. I had pains when I was younger and like you I was told they were "growing pains". After I got married and had my first child they became increasingly more frequent. I wish I could give you some hope of relief but I havent found anything. If you have any pain or discomfort contact your doctor, especially if you have diabetes in your family. your doctor will tell you what heor she thinks is wrong and what yous should do. good luck. The million dollar question...is it from the heart? Time to see your doctor. They can do blood tests that can tell them a lot about your heart, as well as an EKG which will show them how well your heart is functioning. Unless you are scared of needles, these are no big deal (I used to perform EKGs and do the blood testing). It's ALWAYS worth it to go in to the doctor for some peace of mind!!! Even if you don't have insurance, you should go in. Many doctors have programs for low income clients, and you can pay in installments. If there is something wrong (like a heart valve not closing properly or some imbalance in your body chemistry), you should try to get it fixed sooner rather than later if things are getting worse. Pain in your chest and left arm can be indicators of a heart attack - you aren't in a high risk group, but it's better to be safe than sorry! GO TO THE DR RIGHT AWAY IT'S NOTHING TO MESS WITH YOU ONLY HAVE YOUR HEALTH AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE THAT WHAT DO YOU HAVE? TAKE CARE OF NUMBER 1 |
