What's causing the pain? (chest pain)?

I have had this chest pain for almost 4 weeks now and it has not even shown signs of leaving. On a pain scale it goes up and down from about 4/10 to 8/10. I have been to the doctors two times now and they have no idea what it is. The first time I went and took x-rays, which showed negative, and the second time I went in for blood test and that showed negative too. It doesn't hurt when someone pushes agains the my chest. I also have some trouble breathing; I feel like I'am only getting half a breath and sometimes less than that. Breathing in and blowing out also make the pain worse. The Hospital has given me an inhaler to help with the breathing, which only helps a little bit, and had said to take Aleve (anti-infamitory), which the doctor later decided to take me off of because it was not helping.

maybe asthma. I get chest pains all the time for the last 10 yrs infact and I have self diagnosed it to stress, and asthma. In the winter time it is harder for me to breathe so it hurts more. Also...when I am really worked up over stress it bothers it too. I had an echo done, blood work, the whole thing and nothing came up. They never even told me if it was stress or not so I ended up having to say it was stress and the asthma I know b/c I found out the hard way when I joined the Army and they had to issue me an inhaler. So..that is what I would say it is is stress then if it isn't asthma. Good luck! go and get a second opinion from a psychiatrist that can see if it is mental *stress* or physical..*asthma*.

It would probably be a good idea to get 2nd and 3rd opinions. I can only imagine the discomfort you are in right now. Good luck.

Ask your doctor about Advair. It is an inhaled drug you take twice a day to bring down inflamation. My husband has problems with Reflux. He too was having the same kind of pain. His stomach acid was actually getting into his lungs and inflaming them. He now takes pravacid and does Advair and feels a lot better.

Eat less hamburger, cheese & eggs.
