Ioana,

You have already had your heart checked out and a doctor said it wasn't the cause of the pain and that it was okay.

So we can safely rule out a heart problem.

You have already taken medicine for gas related problems and that didn't seem to help.

So we can probably rule out acid reflux or a similar affliction.

Sounds to me like you probably have an "idiopathic" (meaning unknown cause) illness called costochondritis.

Costochondritis is not a serious condition but it is very painful and mimics much of the symptoms of a heart attack. It is the inflammation of ribcage cartilage.

I've had it and know exactly how it feels. I once went to the ER thinking that I might be having a heart attack. I didn't. It was costochondritis, which I had had before.

Unfortunately, your bonehead doctor didn't already think of this.

The treatment?

Pamper your body as if you had the flu. Rest, relaxation, vitamin therapy, and the use of a gentle painkiller like Advil Liquigel, which contains ibuprofen - an anti-inflammatory. But use pain killers sparingly and only when sorely needed, as they do nasty things to the body.

The biggest problem with this affliction is that one cannot rest lying down without the pain increasing and preventing sleep. So prop yourself up on a pillow at night or lay back on a recliner and doze when you can. Eventually the pain will subside enough for you to sleep fully.

With improved nutritional supplementation, the episodes of costochondritis have lessened in my life and would do the same for you. I have listed a plethora of nutritional advice in previous answers to questions, so feel free to peruse my responses via my profile.

Thank you. Glad to be of help. Report It

YEAH COULD BE ACID REFLUX

firstly if there was anything wrong with your heart it would of shown up on the ecg (echo cardio gram) but if your not happy go babk to your docs and demand more tests

It could be anything. If he did an EKG and it checked out fine then don't worry so much. If you are still worried, ask him to do a complete heart sonogram. Your insurance should pay for it. It could be gastrointestinal problems.

No what you have is a very common problem, it feels like your heart is hurt but actually what is happening is there is a bit of phlim sticking your lung wall together, you have to take a deep breath to break it apart and the pain will go away

Yup I agree with Penney S. it could be acid reflux. I had chest pains for months and I was so scared. I then went to the gastro and did an edoscopy and they sent me Nexuim, and even now that I drink Nexuim I still have chest pain but not as much so dont be scared it might be that. Good Luck!

Keep seeing the doctors. It could be as simple as acid reflux (GERD). But you'll have to rule out the more serious stuff, just in case. It might be a hiatal-hernia. But those are most common in overweight (more than just a little) individuals.

Personally, I've been having on and off chest pains since I was 9. The doctors have not found anything wrong. And we haven't found any one triggering condition. It comes and it goes. Although chest pains can be a sign of a serious problem, sometimes they're just a bit annoying. Either way, keep seeing the doctors. There's no sense in risking a serious condition just because of a little fear.

Good luck and God bless.

:)

Sounds like you have all the symptoms of being madly in love!

Check with your doctor first, but it may be that you have some inflamation from damage to a chest muscle. It will feel like someone is cutting you right through your chest wall. I am not kidding! You may also experience shoulder pain because when the chest muscles or even back muscles are irritated these muscles and your nerves are all connected in someway or the other therefore causing pain in other areas. It can really be painful! I used to have this problem a lot especially since my car wreck. A chiropratic can do wonders for you and also taking anti-flamatory medication like ibuprofen is helpful.

sweetie, if you've been in pain for months then something needs to be done. find another doctor and get a second opinion.

many modern doctors are too afraid of malpractice suits to tackle problems head on. call around, talk to your family and friends - get the name and numbers of their doctors. then just do it. don't sit in front of your computer looking for diagnoses, don't ask impartial strangers to find out what's wrong with you. get yourself to a real doctor, clinic, or ER and get better !!!

and whatever you do, don't wait around. pain is a warning signal that your body throws out when it detects something's wrong. you've been ignoring it for way too long. it might be something simple, it might not - but in any case, you need the help of a professional.

(( no, i'm not a doctor, just a computer geek who's concerned that you've waited this long))

i hope you feel better soon !!
