GERD is a very painful condition that can cause chest pain severe enough to send many people to the hospital thinking they are having a heart attack. Try getting something like prilosec (stronger than other OTC reflux medicines) and see if the symptoms improve. Try to stay away from caffeine and carbonated beverages. Fats and oils can worsen heartburn. But be sure to get the GERD treated if you have it because it can cause esophageal damage. well it could be due to your weight gain, i would consider losing weight. It could be reflux (GERD), but that does not usually cause numbness to the jaw or down the arm. You have had a lot of tests regarding your heart's health but have you had a second opinion? I would want to rule that possibility out for sure before I relaxed. Gerd is very painful and anxiety as well as extra weight makes it worse. Can you work seriously on losing weight? This would improve the Gerd a great deal. Six years ago I lost 90 pounds and guess what? GERD gone; heartburn gone; hiatal hernia symptoms gone. I wish I'd lost the weight when I was your age but I waited another 40 years. I lost the weight rather painlessly by using the Atkins idea of very low carbs. I ate a lot of meat, hard cheese, eggs, dill pickles, a soup I made with tomatoes, tomato juice, bouillon cubes, shredded cabbage, celery, red onions, carrots, and lots of cayenne pepper. The cayenne isn't important, it's just something I like. It took me six months and I seriously was never hungry. And I never cheated. I kept my carb count down to 30 gm a day which is very low. I actually felt quite well on that diet. Since then I just eat healthful food in moderate amounts. My doctor did not discourage me. I wish you a lot of luck and good health!!! |
