Chest pain??

I have been having this chest pain for a couple of hours now and it is unbearable. I usually have these chest pains once in a while, but i usually wait it out. does anyone know why i'm having these chest pains and can it be indigestion? if so..what are the symptoms? Or could it be something else?

If you are having severe chest pain it would indicate two possibilities.

Heart problems ranging from a heart attack to heart muscle or blood vessel problems. If it is the heart then a doctor can tell from a simple examination, trace from a heart monitor and a blood test.

What you call Indigestion - could be gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Typical reflux symptoms are heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, asthma, cough and laryngitis.鈥? The pain is caused by acid entering the oesophagus which has no protection from the acid. This leads to pain, inflammation and sometimes ulceration.

It can also turn to Barret's oesophagus which is a precancerous condition.

Whatever is causing your pain you need to see a doctor!

Please call 911 NOW.

(ps: David's answer is excellent and accurate, however chest pain equals 911)

I think it would be in your best interest to follow paramedic girl's suggestion!!!

You need to get to the hospital as soon as possible call 911 so they can get an ambulance to your house. Take you an aspirin while waiting for the ambulance, this saved my brother in laws life when he had a massive heart attack.

everyone is rite call 911 it cud be a mild heart attack plez dont take it lightly

It is hard to tell the difference between heart, indigestion or muscle problems.

The best way to tell without medical advice, is if you are still alive the following morning. If you are dead then you had a massive heart attack.

I once had a pulled muscle in my chest that had allot of the signs of a heart attack. I went to the hospital a couple times till they figured out I had pulled/strained a muscle.

I had chest pain and it turned out to be a collapsed lung or pneumothorax...nothingh to **** with. I waited 4 days so I ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks and 2 surgeries.

Or it could be plueresy an infection in the lining of the lungs. or pneumonia.

these are typical if the pain comes and goes with your breathing.

at least let the DR listen to your chest
