Chest Pain - Left Side? |
The chest pain came ever since I caught Viral Infection on my Lymp node.my WBC drop tremendously, from normal 4.0 to 2.1. I was hospitalized. Initially, i thought probably I was weak that's why I experience sharp pain on my left chest. CT scan shows normal. Angina or chest pain can be caused by a number of different things. Without getting into your medical Hx, the first things I would want to know would be the following; 1) are your vital signs within normal limits ie BP, resp rate, heart sounds etc. 2) pain symptoms; on a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the pain. Is it a sharp pain, a dull ache, does the pain get worse when you take a deep breath, is the pian brought on from exertion. Is there any radiation of the pain, ie pain down your left arm. Chest pain can be either cardiac related or simply chest wall pain. Cardiac pain is most often caused when there is a lack of oxygen being supplied to the heart muscle. Most causes are when the coronary arteries get blocked starving the cardiac muscle of its vital nutrients. 3) does the pain increase with exertion. Is this pain felt in the neck, jaw, back or arms. 4) Do you have any shortness of breath, nausea, or a feeling of constant indigestion. Do you have any sweating when you experience this pain? Your Dr should do blood enzyme tests, chest X-Ray, EKG, stress test (tread mill), A nuclear scan, stress echo study and cardiac catheterization might be helpful as well. Generally your white cell count increases with any type of infection, so this one is strange. You might be suffering from chest wall pain ( pulled intercostal muscle ) or you might have pericarditis. Do not take this lightly, you could have a serious problem. Anything that has to do with the heart is of prime concern. good luck!! Take two aspirin and call me in the morning. Stress and muscle tension can cause those symptoms. Acid reflux also happens to people who have good diets and is very painful. Talk to your doctor about trying nexium. I works great. I had this problem a couple years ago. My doctor order an upper and lower GI and found I had a hiatal hernia which was causing acid reflux. She put me on Protonix for a month which healed the damage in my esophagus from the acid reflux. I've never been one to eat spicey, greasy food or drink caffiene to excess so I was very surprised to find out my pain in the chest was acid reflux. Many people have hiatal hernias, some show no symptoms at all. Many things cause these hernias and I have no idea how I got the darn thing. Try taking over the counter acid controllers such as Tagamet or Pepcid AC and see if that takes care of the chest pain. If that doesn't work, then it might be time for a full complete physical and the upper and lower GI. stress can do some odd things i would go to another doctor for a second opinion i hope you feel better |
