Chest Pain, is it an emergency? |
Hi, i'm experiencing a sharp, crushing sort of pain in my chest, on the left side only. I did just get done(about an hour and a half ago) running at about 4-5(varying) miles per hour for just over one hour, which i think must be the cause, but just to be sure.. the chest pain started around half an hour after i stopped. I'm feeling nauseous(which i often do after excercising, so i'm not sure that's relevant), and i'm sort of shaking, my pulse is still somewhat high and i'm feeling dizzy. The pain gets worse when i take deep breaths. But comes and goes, where for a few minutes no pain, then it comes back. Is this an emergency or should i just wait for it to pass? I do have a history of syncopal episodes, not cardiac related according to an ECG i had not too long ago. My blood pressure does get abnormally high(esp. considering my weight/age/height, which is early teens, 5'6 approx and 120 lbs) sometimes and i also have quite a few anxiety related issues. What could the problem be? Well, no, i don't have asthma and i'm not wheezing or hyperventilating. I think i pretty much listed all of the symptoms and most of the possibly related health things, other than stomach ulcers which i'm somewhat prone to. I've read that the acid in your esophagus can cause chest pain though i don't know exactly what kind of pain that refers to but i've never had this type of pain or a pain in that area before during an ulcer. Well, a doctor is really the only one that can tell you what is going on with you...but I do know that if you are having worsening chest pain with inspiration it is probably not heart related.. Cardiac Chest pain does not get worse when breathing, however, you could have some sort of respiratory illness going on...Do you have asthma? Do you hear wheezing? That would increase your heart rate and make you have chest pain with inspiration. Could you be hyperventillating?? It is just hard to tell because we can't see you... Do not ignore. Check with good Cardiologist. I had a heart attack one yr ago, like a heavyweight standing on my chest. Call local hospital er and describe sytmptoms now!!!!! XO You need to get to a doctor without wasting time thinking what to do. go your *** to the hospital...the first sentence alone is more than enough reason. call the er line......better sdafe than sorry or if you are near to the er ... go I can totally relate to you, I was experiencing rapid heart beats, that actually woke me from sleep about 3 months ago.... but I waited until my dad woke up for work to tell him that I was driving myself to the ER... ( because I have a 9 yr old daughter, and didn't want to worry anyone) I got to the ER, and my heart rate was 130 beats per minute..which is WAY too fast for even a young heart like mine (i'm only 29)... Please go to the nearest hospital emergency department straightaway. it may not be cardiac related but any reports of chest pain need to be sorted out very urgently. Are you finding it harder and harder to breathe? You may find that everything is okay but it is better to be safe than sorry. |
