Unexplained chest pain?

I've been having this radiating chest pain for 6 months now. Sometimes its in the center of my chest, sometimes its to the left of my breastbone, other times its all across my left chest and down my left arm. I've been diagnosed with multinodular goiter and a rare allergic disease called eosinophilic esophagitis. My doc keeps telling me this pain is from stress and hands me a prescription for sedatives. I don't think it is. I've gone to gastroenterologists and thyroid specialists and they all say the pain I'm feeling is unrelated. Should I shut up and trust the doctors or should I pursue this? Has anyone had a similar pain?

Oh, and I'm 26.

Anytime you experience any type of chest pain, you need to go straight to the ER so that a cardiac etiology can be ruled out. It could be you are having musculoskeletal pains and an antiinflammatory agent can be prescribed for you. The ER should be able to refer you to a specialist who can take a closer look at your musculoskeletal system and get a good idea to exactly what is causing your pain.

I hope you feel better soon.
