Left chest pain/anxiety?

Hi im a 17 year old male, with good overall health. i just had a physical about a 2 months a go and everything is good. I am currently in grade 12. In february i was having some chest pains/palpulations and i went to the emergency room and they did the EKG, blood tests and an x ray and everything turned out fine. They said it was just stress/anxiety causing my chest pains. they told me to take some advil and it should go away. I did and it went away, however now im having chest pains again. ( they are a very mild pain) on the far left side and it goes under the armpit kinda into the rib section. i think it is just the anxiety because i have exams coming up in a week and im all worried about the results. or i think i might have somthing like COSTOCHONDRITIS. if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
Do you think this is just anxiety causing this ( i also got headaches a lot in january) when my first exams were written

I have been to the Hospital over 11 times thinking that I'm having an Heart attack and everything checked out alright. I was told it was Anxiety and I'm receiving treatment for it and I haven't had a problem since!

dude you need to eat some nutella. it is cocoa hazelnut spread. you can find it near the peanut butter at the store. just put some on a little frech bread, or whatever you like. oh man its so good.

don't worry. you have been checked out and the doctor found you to be fit. i agree with them that you are probably juat having anxiety attacks. my husband has a heart attacks and this does not sound like one.

Yes, I think they are correct and its just anxiety. same thing happened to me. the chest pains would come and go and sometimes were pretty strong. It's nothing to be afraid of and will not harm you. Once you stop worrying about it-they will likely go away.
best of luck.

Well anxiety and costochondritis are two separate issues, but both could potentially cause chest pain. If the aleve helped in the past, then you may have had costochondritis during that episode. You could try to take some again and see if it relieves your pain. A good way to determine if your pain is from costochondritis is just to push on your chest where the pain was - if this reproduces the pain, then it is likely just inflammation of the chest wall and not anything more serious.

If your symptoms are from anxiety, then I wouldn't expect aleve to help you much. Anxiolytic medication would be ideal for panic attacks causing chest pain. This is something that you would need prescribed by a doctor, and if you have had potentially two episodes of panic attack then you should probably have this evaluated.

Obviously the biggest concern if anyone is having chest pains is whether it is a cardiac cause. Since you're only 17 and in otherwise good health and had a normal workup in the past for the same thing, my suspicion for cardiac-related chest pain would be pretty low. That being said, it is always possible especially if there is any family history of significant heart disease. It's impossible to know for sure what's going on over the internet, so if this pain persists ideally you should be evaluated by a doctor.
