Is there any relation between the thyroid problems and Paget's disease? |
The patient is of 43 years age had undergone mastectomy in Jan'07 following paget's disease. But in march she has been detected to be suffering from hypothyroidism with T3=40.7 ,T4=0.7 and TSH >150 First of all, I'm not sure why the patient had a mastectomy due to Paget's. Paget's is a disease of the bone. Plus, to correct the other person that answered, It is quite possible to function w/a TSH level of that nature, however it should be addressed by an endocrinologist. Synthroid or another levothyroxine replacement will likely be prescribed. This person should consult his/her physician, especially if they are symptomatic. Being hypo is definitely no fun. One thing for sure. A TSH 150 sounds like totally severe and needs immediate medical attention. I cant imagine the person still functioning at all. |
