Alkaline phosphatase is a naturally occurring enzyme in the body and elevated levels suggest a disease process at work.

In this case it is a result of the Paget's disease and is a diagnostic indicator of the presence of the disease and not a cause. Therefore you would not attempt to alter ALP levels but monitor them as indicative of progression of the disease.

As for the Paget's disease, you are correct there is no cure and at present no known cause. However the process by which the disease manifests is known. Normal bone tissue is broken down and reformed constantly and in Paget's this process is accelerated so bones are often larger and softer and weaker. ALP removes phosphate groups as part of normal physiological processes and an increased metabolism of the bone would result in an increased bone ALP level.

Treatment is symptomatic at best. Non medical approaches would be simple things like exercise to strengthen muscle and bone, hot and cold compresses to alleviate pain and tension, and avoiding stress on the affected joints and bones.

very simple treatment and it works wonder-----------
