Is it true that Paget disease starts as eczema in the breast?

After a biopsy and mammogram I have been diagnosed with eczema in the areola of my left breast. But the rough, itchy patch in my areola does not go away althugh it has soften since I am putting steroid adn moisturiser cream. I have been told that if the patch does not go away is because it may develop into Paget's disease later. Also the Paget disease does not show in the mammogram in the first stages. Am I condemned with cancer of the breast? thank you

If it is truly eczema, it won't develop into anything else.

However, if you have the symptoms of eczema on the nipple and they do not go away, then you may have Paget's. One does NOT convert to another; rather Paget's RESEMBLES eczema in it's earliest stages.

DO see a doctor who specializes in breast diseases, and DO NOT DELAY. Paget's can be VERY aggressive and VERY hard to treat because it is so often misdiagnosed.
