Breast cancer? |
hi. Im 21 years old. i have a 1 1/2 year old son. and i've had this rash on my breast. its itchy, scaly, and very sensitive to touch.it waters and sometimes bleeds where it sticks onto my bra. I;ve tried using priscribed cortison cream, itll help for like a day but it never got rid of the problem. i had it for about 3 years now looking past the thought of breast cancer. at first i had a small pimple like rash on my right breast. and then a year later my right nipple got covered in the rash. then my left nipple. its only on my areola though. ive heard some stories about paget's disease. and breast cancer. im very confused and scared. if someone knows about this or is going through it please help me. I dont have insurance. so i am not sure where im supposed to go get checkked up. im not sure if i should go to a dermatology first? or get a biopsy? thanks everyone. Your symptoms do fall under a type of breast cancer, called Inflammatory Breast Cancer or IBC (Paget's Disease is a type of this). But having IBC for 3 years is not typical. IBC is also hard to diagnose because doctors see it so rarely and can be dismissed as an infection, which is the more typical result for this problem. You definitely need to get this checked out. I would suggest a women's health clinic, they can help you with any financial issues (lack of insurance) as well. This would be a very odd presentation of cancer. Don't know what it is however. See a primary care doctor first and they can refer you to a specialist if needed. No, I dont think you have to worry about breast cancer, Are you breast feeding? if you are this could be the issue, you also could be allergic to the bras you wear, or the detergent that you use, but it looks like if you was it would be all over, also could be yeast infection, you might try vit. e on the areas and wash and keep them dry. if it dont clear up then you can go to health dept. they will help you. I would recommend Mycolog cream or something similar. Hope you get better soon. Jenn, I don't think it's cancer, I think you have contact dermatitis from your bra. Paget's is a cancer of the nipple, and you're much to young for this relatively uncommon illness. If this were a true inflammatory carcinoma, you wouldn't survive for 3 years in such good health. I can imagine that without insurance, the dermatologist will cost you a ton of money, but you need at least a medium potency steroid cream to control this and you can only get this by prescription. Breast cancer is overwhelmingly a female disease, but about 1% of cases occur in men (around 300 per year in the UK). Amongst women it becomes more common as age increases. More than 80% of cases occur in women over 50. Taking the contraceptive pill slightly increases the risk. Taking hormone replacement therapy significantly increases your risk somewhat more, but the health benefits derived from hormone replacement are better overall. Obesity and heavy drinking also significantly increase the risk. GET A BIOPSY DONE QUICKLY ,I WILL PRAY TO GOD FOR YOU.MY MOTHER HAD BONE MARROW CANCER AND I HAD TO DROP OUT OF COLLEGE TO LOOK AFTER HER.I KNOW HOW YOU MUST FEEL,CANCER IS A HORRIBLE DISEASE BUT THANKFULLY BREAST CANCER CAN BE CURED IF IT IS DETECTED IN STAGE 1. It's extremely rare for someone as young as you are to have breast cancer, but it's not unheard of. It is rare for someone as young as you are to have breast cancer, but it is not impossible. |
