PTSD after domestic abuse? |
I am almost 18. I got out of an abusive relationship about 6 months ago (it was bad...my ex tried to kill me, then eventually ordered me to kill myself, which put me in the hospital). Ever since, I've had persistent nightmares, night terrors, intrusive thoughts, anxiety, insomnia, and panic attacks. My ex still tries to contact me, despite my family's best efforts to prevent it. The hospital couldn't diagnose chronic PTSD because the symptoms hadn't been present for 3 months yet. Now they have, and my psychiatrist still isn't sure if it's chronic. First off, I am so sorry to hear that you went through this. It sounds horrifying. You certainly do seem to have many PTSD symptoms. You deserve help and support. You can heal from trauma and abuse and you don't deserve to suffer. |
