Hello. I am not aware of any research specifically with PTSD and weight gain. There are however many studies done on "emotional eating". Many people eat in response to emotional disturbances or stressful situations in general. The following link at the Mayo Clinic may give you more information.

Hey there,

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through such a hard time.

Though PTSD does not specifically say that there will be a small or large amount of weight gain, it is definitely possible that it is a cause. Every case is different, and it might be that you are more susceptible to gaining weight during depressive episodes. there is a great community online that helps support people with PTSD. I use the other communities for ADD and depression. The people are great and very willing to share their advice and stories in order to help another person out.

Good luck! I wish you the very best.

Warmest Regards,
Chanty
