I suffer from PTSD and had a partial memory of sexual abuse as a child. What can I do to get rid of my PTSD?

I have headaches and anxiety and am afraid to get in relationships, much less approach a girl (even though I am a pretty good looking, intellegent guy). Everyone else in my family has family with kids. I am getting older and want this for myself, but I want to get rid of the PTSD first. What can I do??

I self diagnosed it as such. I have seen a therapist who believes it is PTSD as well. I also saw a psychiatrist who thinks it's bipolar although I disagree with his diagnosis. I started having this memory about 2 years ago and It was so painful that I pulled back. It feels like something is stuck there and I don't know what to do. I am on Paxil and Remeron right now and they work great for my depression. What would help with my headaches?

I am leery of taking any more drugs since I don't think they really help the underlying problem. I want the memory out and gone. Everytime I try to relax and let it out, I can't get to it.

I would shop around for a counselor and psychiatrist. You may need to be on medication, even a low dosage. I'm on a small dosage of Zoloft right now for depression and it's been a great help in controlling my moods. Look into the counselling too because it sounds like that would be extremely prevalent to your PTSD. You don't have to suffer alone.

*Edit* I'm glad you're on some meds then. I know the sexual abuse memory is EXTREMELY painful, but you have to realize that the only way you're going to "get it out" like you keep saying, is to continue counseling sessions. You need a professional because stuff could get really hairy if you sit down with a family member or friend and open up. I never suffered anything as severe as sexual abuse (thank god) but I have struggled with lesser, stressful situations and whenever I tried to talk them out with people I was immediately close to it always ended in failure. Look for a LCS (licensed clinical social worker). Trust me, he or she will get your through it. Remember that it's a work in progress and requires patience.

have you been in therapy yet, or is this self-diagnosed PTSD? just curious--you didn't mention it.

go see a therapist or psychiatrist. Dont attempt to trat this yourself, it almost always backfires.

Go to herbdoc.com and save yourself years of anguish and stupid doctors' lies. Learn how to cure yourself and strengthen your mind and body using herbs. Drugs do nothing in the long run except cause other problems. Herbs go directly to the source and cause your body to cure itself.

Haha, I'm in the same situation, hon. But I'm only 15. Umm, I just got religion. I was saved last year and haven't had any problems since. I'm now carefree and happy-go-lucky. I still remember EVERYTHING, but it doesn't bother me, because I realized that it wasn't my fault!!! It was just the same type of memory as when I got beat up in once in grade school. It wasn't my fault, so I don't care. Anyone who wants to mess with me can go **** themselves, because I'm strong enough to defend myself now! I have God on my side...! Hope you get better.

lwho told you were ptsd could be something else if it is PTSD go to a Mental Health conselor there are lots of treatments avaiable including some new ones that show some real promise it is also treatable with medications no need for you to suffer

Well, alot of people are scared to get into relationships, I mean my friend can't say I Love You to any guy she cares about. So I guess she's in the same boat. You should try talking to someone though when it comes to your PTSD, whether it's a professional or not is really up to you, I would recommend a professional, but I know there are lots of people who are just as good that aren't professionals. And you know just because the rest of your family has kids doesn't mean you have to have one, Yeah it's nice. But it may not be your time, and you don't want to marry who the wrong one just because your in a rush.

PTSD IS POST TRAUMATIC SYNDROME DISORDER YOU WILL HAVE TO SEEK A PHYCH DOC FOR PTSD. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN SOMETHING AWFUL HAPPENS TO YOU. ALSO IT HAPPENS TO MILITARY MEN COMING OUT OF COMBAT. GOOD LUCK AND IF U NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO DONT HESITATE TO EMAIL ME.
