PTSD question?

I have PTSD because of a traumatic system of abuse I suffered a few years ago. Because of this, I can't watch anything triggering and am especially frightened to hear a certain word (I can't even spell it; it is a four-letter word, beginning with R and rhyming with 'ape'). In spite of this, I love forensics shows and have my husband read their descriptions on tvguide.com before I watch them, to make sure there won't be anything terrifying in the episodes. My question is, is there any sort of database available online which could tell me what episodes of Forensic Files, Investigators, et cetera, are all right for me to watch? Thanks!

It sounds like you need to focus on healing yourself rather than finding shows you can watch.

I was also diagnosed with PTSD and ADD. I am so distrustful of pharmaceuticals but was desperate. So I tried Straterra for ADD. It seemed to alleviate that constant fight or flight jitteryness, and has helped somewhat with focus.

I hate pharmaceutical companies, but must admit this med has made me less..hm? afraid?

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

I'd get the PTSD sorted if i were you. I have PTSD and have done alot of research now, EMDR or the 'rewind technique' seem to be the best to sort it out............

Part of PTSD is seeking out recurrences. It sounds like that is what you are doing. Have you spoken with your counselor about your desire to watch those shows? I can't watch them. I don't think it's good for you.

I would try and meditate and pray and get some exercise - those are going to help your PTSD. Watching more tv is not going to help.
