Post traumatic stress disorder results from something happening in a person's life that is beyond the range of what can be considered "normal"; ie. seeing people killed, being raped and brutalized, etc.. The person often seeks to "control" because the traumatic event was something out of his/her control. Anger is another result as are insomnia, nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety being around groups of people such as in a mall, etc.
Why don't you consider returning to therapy to discuss these issues that are concerning you and to discuss how much progress you have made? Find a therapist who is especially experienced in treating PTSD.
Since you are getting married, it always is a good idea for an engaged couple to both get some sort of counselling to determine where their values coincide and where they differ. Differing values concerning a range of topics can undermine a marriage once the romance phase has worn off. Good luck to you and much happiness to you and your fiance in the coming years!

PTSD is something that can get better but I'm not sure that you can completley get over it. If your close friends are saying that you might need therapy than you might want to think about it. These are the people who know you the best and want the best for you. Maybe you should try to get the help before you get married, you wouldn't want something like this to lead to problems in the marriage. Better to do it now than later. And if you've been in therapy you know how much it helps the situation and how much better you feel, go for it what could you lose?

Go see your counselor and figure out if you are still struggling with the PTSD. You might even discuss the anger. If you are dealing with either then work with your counselor to get it under control.

If not, then I highly recommend that you step back and reconsider what you are calling friends. It definitely does not sound like a great way to start a marriage.

Dealing with things now will be far less complicated than you waiting until you are married.

Good luck,

James
