How does having PTSD interfere with my academics?

I have PTSD and have to go to the Disabled student counselors and tutors on a weekly basis to make sure I pass my classes. What gives?? Am I just weak and just stop going to the counselor?

C L- the trauma or stress I experienced lasted till I was 19 until I left home from the United States

I would think if you have PTSD you would be at high risk of having problems focusing on your work and being able to concentrate.
I don't see why you should think of yourself as "weak." If you don't think you need it, maybe you or your parents can talk to the school.
I think I know how you feel, though. I have Major Depression and my job made go to counselors a couple of times. I thought it was a waste of time.

PTSD can greatly affect all aspects of an otherwise "normal" persons life. You should see a PTSD specialist to get the proper help.

You are not weak. You need to continue to go. Maybe they
can help you overcome this. Don't give up all the work you
have done so far to get help with this problem. You don't want
to go through it all over again. Don't give up.

no, do not stop counseling!!! with time and help your disability is treatable and eventually curable. good luck, think positive, give it time.

How often do u experience the event that made you a PTSD?
It is not your fault that you have got the PTSD. Whatever happened in the past, its a brain condition now, kinda trying to protect you in a bit overreacting state. Talk to a Psychiatrist or Psychologist somebody who is really specialized in PTSD.

It affected my studies like this - i would have to concentrate 100% all the time, i was very intense with myself. It actually helped me get gd grades but i was mega intense etc - not healthy.

Just to add that the answer above is correct !
I had to concentrate 100% becoz i had concentration problems.

PTSD is also closely linked to D.I.D by the way.
