I have a friend diagnosed with ptsd,I need him for court case,is he up to it.he has chronic ptsd from friendly

fire incident in iraq.Hes kind of "scared"all the time and thier are two sides to him,the one that I remember and his chronic ptsd which scares the hell out of me.Is he fit to go to trial?

Ask him how he feels about it. If he gets real anxious, give it some more thought. He doesn't need additional stress. It also depends on how you need him for the court case. Giving a statement is different than giving testimony in open court. Also, if the topic is at all related to his trauma or triggers, it might not be such a good idea regardless of the role. In truth, you need to balance his needs against yours. If it's apt to cause him little added stress, you may benefit. If it does cause him stress or he appears angry, shifty, etc, then it may very well not serve your interest.

Yes. Unless of course you think the building will catch on fire or something. Nevertheless, I'd read a book or two on PTSD so you'll know what to do if he has some sort of attack.

If you think he is mentally instable, dont put him through the pressure. If it is very bad and he is seeing a psychologist/mental health professional and you are still questioning it I'd call him/her and get professional advice from the people who have a clue about this.

Email me if you have any other questions. Feel free.

I guess it depends on how bad the ptsd is for him and if he has good medicine that works. I take one fourth mg. risperdal and it helps me. ...but I sure wouldn't want to go to court. Sometimes things like this can bring on strong panic attacks. Also, people might laugh at him and degrade him. Unless it's a case that's really really important and you definitely have to have his help...I wouldn't subject him to it. Even a loud noise...like the judge's gavel could set him off. I think you should Email Esmee and have her put you in touch with her dr. friend.
