I suffer from PTSD, how can I regain the ability to feel emotions so I can live a normal life after 32 years ? |
Caused from severe abuse as a child from age 0 to 14 when I moved out. Started therapy with medications at age of 16 but it never helped & I was told that I may never be able to fully feel things like happiness & love. I have tried to be a good mother and by showing that I love them but I can't control my temper & end up yelling a lot. My husband always gets mad at me because I can't show or tell him I love him like he wants & don't really have sex too much even though I do but when I try to say it or become affectionate first I just can't & get panic attacks. This last week has been hard. I found out that my husband has been online searching for women in our area & my mother who cause most of PTSD started acting crazy again which I will NEVER allow around kids & I think all of this did something because I have not been able to eat, sleep, breath, slow my heart down & can't get images from the internet logs & pictures of women he wanted out of my mind. I feel like I am dying I also suffer from PTSD due to abuse as a child. It takes alot of time and effort to learn to live with it. You should see a licensed therapist who will help you learn how to live your life. I would also recommend couples counseling for you and your husband. He may not understand why you are distant and counseling could help you both. You need to join the US Armed Forces. This will get your mind off your problems. You will feel good about yourself, AND you will get to kill people. You need to get some professional help. If you can't control your temper, try anger management classes. You need to deal with your past and the abuse you have had as a child. Practice saying I love you or you are cute or whatever it is you feel about your husband out loud and not in front of him. Say it to a picture of him until it feels normal to say it out loud. Then say it to him. You're SAFE with true friends.. i dont know if your religious or not but it does help to have a moral support that you can fall back on. it also helps to know that you have some one to talk to through prayer. as for your husband i would suggest sitting down and talking not arguing but talking try and keep everything civil but air out whats bothering you. some men do go throught these problems and he need your help as much as you need his whether he will admit it or not. if your not attending church and decide to go to one find one that feels right not just one that sounds good. it sounds like you need to try and listen to your emotions more. its not going to be easy but if you work at it, it will be worth it, it will pobably take some time. you can start by thanking your husband for what he does. it doesn't have to be the big things but any thing. if councelings havent helped and medication hasnt either you might want to look at the source and try a new approch. EMDR has proven to be amazing in its results for overcoming trauma Ok I will help you. You can turn this around but you will have to have the courage strength and desire. |
