Does anyone with PTSD have problems with relationships? |
Does anyone with PTSD have problems in relationships? Personally it has deeply affected my relationships, from my family to my girlfriends. I can assure you that for me, its been a struggle to TRUST, which is a key issue with PTSD. I have the disorder. Yes, I do have problems with relationships, partly for the same reasons. I cant feel emotionaly close either, and usualy dont realise what I had until I lose it. I am currently single and plan on staying that way until I can figure out how to handle being emotionaly unavaliable to a partner. Sometimes I wonder if its only a matter of finding the right person and being in a supportive enviroment. Hope this helps. It may depend on what the PTSD is from. It can come from the war (which is best been publicised) or it can come from any trauma in ones life. Auto accident, rape, witnessing a crisis, national disaster, etc... so I believe you need to clarify a little. Not all PTSD will be experienced in the same way. Either from men or women or the source of the trauma. I have major trust issues because I was raped.. I have had the hardest time. I still hear my ex in my head. I can't get rid of the notion that his comments to me are right and that I am basically a worthless piece of dung. So to answer your question yes. ive tried to be in a relationship. just never works out for me. i always end up being triggered by the stupidist things. it just isnt easy. i hope to become better with having a relationship. but for now, not gonna happen. there are many who also go thru this. not fun at all. The most important thing is that you realize there is a problem and you are seeking help....continue to seek help with a support group or therapy. There is no weakness in asking for help! depending on the severity of your PTSD it may take time, but knowing that you want to feel better and are actively trying new things will bring you far! Life is full of hurry and worry. There are mental and physical abuses, and that has an impect on our cerebral system, if we view it seriously. But if we think that , situation occurs beyond our control and we do could not stop it than we have to accept, as it is . If we start forgiving than can afford to forget. Unless one forgives, it cannot be removed from the mind . If forgived, impression is deleted from the mind and does not trouble at all. It is like a movie seen and forgotten . In order to keep the mental healtlh proper with amicable relationship with our belonging, its a dire need to view this. It is difficult to practice , but invariably necessatitated to avert the problem . Maxmimum people have this problem , but they do not discuss and suffer . It good that someone has pointed out for the well fare of mass. Identical person shall view the answers of all , and shall resove of their own. |
