Is it possibe for PTSD to totally destroy your tolerance to processed chemicals, drugs, etc.?

Recently I started getting EMDR treatment for PTSD. For many years I binged on junk food, processed chemicals, alcohol and other drugs. Finally I stopped all that and started EMDR. Now it feels like my tolerance for all processed chemicals and drugs is gone. I'm going to talk to my dr. about getting a gluten blood test (igg and iga). Is it possible for extreme longterm stress to totally destroy your tolerance for stuff like this? I've eliminated a lot of gluten and so far it's actually helped some.

Chronic stress can lead to a condition called Leaky Gut Syndrome. Increased intestinal permeability will cause food and chemical intolerences. Another thing to watch out for is overgrowth of intestinal candida, called candidiasis, which will make the problem worse.

Celiac disease can also damage the pancreas, spleen, liver, and kidneys. This disrupts digestive enzymes and makes the problem even worse. Report It

Celiac Disease left untreated can often lead to mental problems and diseases. Its good your going to get tested for Celiac Disease (the name for the autoimmune disease in which u cannot digest gluten). However, your tests will be incorrect if you are already eating glute free. You MUST be eating gluten prior to testing for them to be accurate. I am not sure waht the EMDR is, but I applaud you getting tested for Celiac. It is a likely cause of many mental problems. I hope it all works out! Let me know if I can help u any further.
