Pms.......?

does chocolate realy help pms?

i eat it because i believe it helps.

what else helps.

yes

sex! - it supposedly eases the cramps. At least, that's what I've been told

you can get tablets to help.

Chocolate definatly helps. I hide choc. around the house for when my wife starts to go a bit crazy. Evening primrose oil is also supposed to be good but is not as satisfying as doing a whole family size dairy milk in ten minutes!

I discovered quite by accident, that whiskey eases the pains, drinking it that is.
Chocolate does help too, I'm convinced

Tips on controlling PMS

Eat complex carbohydrates (such as whole grain breads, pasta and cereals), fiber and protein. Cut back on sugar and fat.
Avoid salt for the last few days before your period to reduce bloating and fluid retention.
Cut back on caffeine to feel less tense and irritable and to ease breast soreness.
Cut out alcohol. Drinking it before your period can make you feel more depressed.
Try eating up to 6 small meals a day instead of 3 larger ones.
Get aerobic exercise. Work up to 30 minutes, 4 to 6 times a week.
Get plenty of sleep--about 8 hours a night.
Keep to a regular schedule of meals, bedtime and exercise.
Try to schedule stressful events for the week after your period.

it does really help because it increases the level of seratonin in your brain (feel good hormone) if you're old enough then guiness helps too, if not then spinach and anything else high in iron. and light exercise helps too!

Chocolate has both sugar and caffeine in it. PMS can be the result of overproduction of insulin, as estrogen production wanes as a normal part of the cycle, causing more blood sugar to go into cells as food, causing bloating, increased production of pain transmitter chemicals, etc.

By eating sugar and caffeine, you are intaking substances that increase blood sugar, and control the effects of insulin, respectively. That is why eating chocolate helps PMS.

Sorry for the long winded answer. If you want more info on insulin overproduction (hyperinsulinemia), check out the website at www.hufa.org. Barry Sears, Ph.D., Entering the Zone is good for explaining the chemical interactions associated with insulin.

What you eat does affect PMS. Chocolate has chemicals in it that make you feel good.

Chocolate definitely but evening primrose and st johns wort are both good for regulating the stress levels linked with PMS

I use Estroven Plus and Estroven PM to help with my mood swings and hot flashes associated with perimenopause. It helps tremendously! It uses natural ingredients, no hormones. They also make a PMS variety: http://www.estroven.com/pms/indexpms.htm... . If you're a minor please discuss using this or any other medication with our parents first. God bless!

i have got pms right now and i really crave chocolate, i always wonder why, isn't it strange
